My name is Carson Coggins and I am currently enrolled in the Masters of Geospatial Information Science and Technology program at NC State. Originally from Concord, I now live in Raleigh, North Carolina with my wife and our two dogs.
I first discovered GIS and spatial analytics while working in the UK on the Cambridge Retrofit Project in the summer of 2011. I immediately realized what a powerful tool GIS can be and began to investigate and learn as much as I could about the topic.
After completing my undergraduate degree in Political Science at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2013, I enrolled in the GIS Graduate Certificate program, also at UNC-Chapel Hill. In 2015 I was hired as a GIS Technician by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services where I spent two years working in support of other spatial analysts in the NC Central Cancer Registry.
I currently work as Spatial Research Analyst for Meyers Research, a national Real Estate consulting group. Upon completion of my Masters at NCSU, I plan to continue to leverage the invaluable tools and methods developed in my time in the MGIST program as a Spatial Analyst in the Real Estate industry.
